🌍 IT and Tech Jobs with Visa Sponsorship – Global Opportunities

IT and technology is the strongest category for visa sponsorship worldwide. Countries across North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania are facing persistent and growing shortages of skilled technology professionals, and most have placed ICT occupations on official shortage lists with dedicated, accelerated sponsorship pathways.

The key advantage of IT and tech: unlike many other occupations, technology roles have the fastest visa processing times in several countries. Canada's Global Talent Stream processes work permits in 2 weeks. The UK has over 20 eligible SOC codes for IT professionals. New Zealand offers Straight to Residence for software engineers and ICT managers on the Green List. Australia has ACS skills assessment specifically designed for ICT professionals.

Global tech sponsorship snapshot: New Zealand offers Straight to Residence for Software Engineers, ICT Project Managers and ICT Security Specialists on the Green List Tier 1 — apply from offshore. Canada's Global Talent Stream processes work permits in 2 weeks. The UK has multiple eligible SOC codes (2131–2139) with going rates from £41,200 to £58,200. The USA remains the largest tech market with Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Nvidia as the top H-1B sponsors. Singapore's Tech@SG programme provides company-level endorsement for up to 10 EPs over 2 years. Australia uses the ACS assessment with a salary floor of A$79,423.

🌎 Region-by-Region IT & Tech Sponsorship Guide

🇬🇧 United Kingdom – Skilled Worker Visa (SOC 2131–2139)

The UK is one of the strongest countries for tech sponsorship. The tech sector hires more international workers through the Skilled Worker visa than any other industry. There are seven degree-level SOC codes covering IT and data roles.

  • Eligible SOC codes: SOC 2131 — IT project managers (£58,200 going rate); SOC 2132 — IT managers (£55,000); SOC 2133 — IT business analysts, architects and systems designers, including data architects, data engineers and IT solutions architects (£54,900); SOC 2135 — Cyber security professionals (£48,500); SOC 2136 — Programmers and software development professionals (£41,700); SOC 2137 — IT network professionals (£45,600); SOC 2139 — IT and telecoms professionals n.e.c., including DevOps engineers and IT consultants (£52,300).
  • Salary threshold: The general Skilled Worker minimum is £41,700 (rising from £38,700). The going rate for the SOC code applies, and whichever is higher wins. An absolute floor of £25,000 applies.
  • ISL: The Immigration Salary List (replacing the Shortage Occupation List) identifies shortage occupations but only reduces the general threshold to £30,960 — with no discount on the going rate. Some specialist roles in cybersecurity, AI and data engineering have appeared on the ISL.
  • English requirement: B2 level English proficiency.
  • Employer requirement: Must provide a valid Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from a licensed UK employer. Sponsor licence costs £611–£1,682, CoS costs £525, Immigration Skills Charge £480–£1,320 per year.
  • Pathway to PR: After 5 years on the Skilled Worker visa, you can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain.
  • Realistic outlook: Excellent. The UK has the most structured and transparent tech sponsorship system, with seven eligible SOC codes covering every IT role from software development to cyber security.

🇦🇺 Australia – 482, 186 and 494 Visas (ACS Assessment)

Australia has multiple ICT occupations on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), making it one of the strongest countries for tech sponsorship. The ACS (Australian Computer Society) is the designated assessing authority for all ICT occupations.

  • Eligible occupations: Software Engineer, Developer Programmer, ICT Project Manager (ANZSCO 135112), ICT Managers nec (ANZSCO 135199), ICT Security Specialist, Systems Analyst, ICT Support Technicians nec (ANZSCO 313199), Cyber Security Operations Coordinator (ANZSCO 262118), ICT Sales Representative (ANZSCO 225213).
  • Salary threshold: A$79,423 (CSIT from 1 July 2026) or the market rate, whichever is higher. A role paid A$146,576 or more can use the Specialist Skills stream, which has no occupation list.
  • ACS skills assessment: Mandatory for most ICT visas. The assessment validates your qualifications and experience against the ANZSCO occupation. Standard fee: approximately A$1,100–$1,500. Processing: 8–12 weeks (4 weeks with expedited processing). Results valid for 2 years.
  • Pathway to PR: After 2 years on the 482, you can transition to the 186 permanent visa.
  • Salary: Software Engineer A$85,000–$150,000. ICT Project Manager A$110,000–$180,000. Cyber Security Specialist A$110,000–$160,000. Data Engineer A$105,000–$150,000.
  • Realistic outlook: Excellent for software engineers, data scientists and cyber security specialists. Australia has strong demand across all states and territories, particularly in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

🇨🇦 Canada – Global Talent Stream (2-Week Processing)

Canada has the fastest tech visa processing in the world. The Global Talent Stream (GTS) provides 2-week processing for highly skilled tech workers, including software engineers, data scientists and computer engineers.

  • Eligible occupations (GTS Category B): Software Engineers and Designers (NOC 21231), Computer Systems Developers and Programmers (NOC 21230), Software Developers and Programmers (NOC 21232), Computer Engineers (NOC 21311), Information Systems Specialists (NOC 21222), Database Analysts and Data Administrators (NOC 21223), Data Scientists (NOC 21211), Cybersecurity Specialists.
  • GTS requirements: Employer must be referred by a designated partner or hiring for a Category B occupation. The employer must commit to creating at least one new position for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Wage must meet the prevailing wage for the occupation.
  • Salary: Software Engineers (NOC 21231) average CAD $100,000+. Median wage in Canada: CAD $49.38/hour. Toronto median: CAD $52.88/hour. Ontario: CAD $36.06–$88.00/hour.
  • Quebec: Quebec has an updated list of occupations eligible for expedited LMIA processing, including many IT and engineering professions. The list is valid until February 2027.
  • English requirement: CLB 4–5 for work permits; higher for PR pathways.
  • Pathway to PR: An LMIA-backed job offer adds 50–200 CRS points under Express Entry. Several Provincial Nominee Programs also nominate tech workers.
  • Realistic outlook: Excellent. Canada's GTS is the fastest tech visa in the world, and Canada's 2026 immigration targets prioritise skilled workers in tech.

🇪🇺 EU – EU Blue Card (€45,934 STEM Threshold)

The EU offers the EU Blue Card for highly qualified tech professionals. IT specialists qualify for the reduced STEM threshold — one of the lowest salary requirements for any skilled visa in Europe.

  • EU Blue Card (Germany 2026): Minimum gross annual salary €45,934.20 for scientists, mathematicians, engineers, doctors and IT specialists (STEM occupations). The standard threshold for all other occupations is €50,700.
  • IT specialists without a formal degree: Germany allows IT specialists to qualify through professional experience — proof of experience corresponding to an academic level, acquired in at least 3 of the last 7 years, and required for employment. This means you do not need a university degree to qualify for the EU Blue Card as an IT specialist.
  • Qualification recognition: A German university degree or a recognised foreign university degree (checked via ANABIN database). If not automatically recognised, you need a Statement of Comparability from the Central Office for Foreign Education.
  • Other EU countries: Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Austria and Ireland all operate EU Blue Card schemes with different salary thresholds. Ireland's Critical Skills Employment Permit is particularly accessible for tech professionals (English-speaking).
  • Salary: Germany €45,934+ (STEM); Netherlands €50,000–€85,000; Ireland €45,000–€85,000; Sweden €45,000–€75,000.
  • Pathway to PR: EU Blue Card offers a fast track to permanent residency — 21 months with B1 German or 33 months with A1 German. Other EU countries offer PR after 4–5 years.
  • Realistic outlook: Excellent for tech professionals. The €45,934 STEM threshold makes the EU Blue Card one of the most accessible skilled visas in Europe for IT specialists, and Germany allows IT specialists without a degree to qualify through experience.

🇸🇬 Singapore – Employment Pass with Tech@SG

Singapore is the strongest country in Asia for tech sponsorship. Tech professionals are eligible for the Employment Pass (EP), and the Tech@SG programme provides company-level endorsement to reduce EP rejection risks.

  • Employment Pass requirements: Fixed monthly salary of at least SGD 5,600 for most sectors (rising to SGD 6,000 from January 2027) and SGD 6,200 for financial services. Recognised qualifications (typically a degree) and at least 40 points on COMPASS.
  • COMPASS C1 salary benchmarks (ICT sector, 2026): For applicants aged 30 — 10 points at SGD 9,226, 20 points at SGD 14,204. Benchmarks increase with age.
  • Tech@SG programme: Provides company-level endorsement to MOM for up to 10 new Employment Passes over 2 years, plus backing for the first renewal. Reduces EP rejection risks for fast-growing tech companies.
  • Five-year EP for tech professionals: Experienced tech professionals with skills in shortage can qualify for a 5-year EP under the Shortage Occupation List (SOL), provided they achieve at least 40 COMPASS points and meet the salary threshold (SGD 10,700–$14,270 depending on age).
  • Salary: Software Engineer SGD 80,000–150,000. Data Scientist SGD 90,000–160,000. DevOps Engineer SGD 85,000–140,000. ICT Project Manager SGD 100,000–180,000.
  • Pathway to PR: EP holders can apply for Permanent Residence after sufficient time in Singapore.
  • Realistic outlook: Excellent. Singapore is Asia's leading technology and AI hub, with the highest demand for foreign tech talent in the region.

🇦🇪 UAE and Gulf – Employment Visa

⚠️ Common IT & Tech Job Scams – How to Spot Fake Sponsorship

  • "Guaranteed visa" promises: only government authorities can grant visas. No agent can guarantee approval.
  • "H-1B sponsorship guaranteed" ads: H-1B is subject to an annual lottery. No agent can guarantee selection.
  • Upfront payment requests: no legitimate employer asks for visa processing fees before hiring.
  • WhatsApp recruiters asking for passport scans before a formal offer: verify the employer on the official sponsor register first.
  • Job offers without a sponsorship reference number: genuine sponsors provide a CoS, LMIA, GTS reference, nomination or Job Check reference.
  • Salaries far below market rate: a "software engineer" role advertised at $500/month is a red flag.
  • Fake certification or bootcamp schemes: be wary of programmes charging thousands for "guaranteed tech sponsorship" — legitimate skills assessments are done through official bodies like ACS.
  • Fake job boards: stick to verified platforms like IFMOSA and official government job banks.
IFMOSA's commitment: we only publish jobs that appear to come from licensed or verifiable employers. Each listing includes official government links where available. Always cross-check using the relevant sponsor register.
