⚠️ Common Corporate Job Scams – How to Spot Fake Sponsorship

  • "Guaranteed visa" promises: only government authorities can grant visas. No agent can guarantee approval.
  • "Guaranteed HR/BDM sponsorship" ads for junior roles: HR assistants, recruitment coordinators and business development executives are generally not eligible for skilled work visas. Focus on manager-level roles.
  • Upfront payment requests: no legitimate employer asks for visa processing fees before hiring.
  • WhatsApp recruiters asking for passport scans before a formal offer: verify the employer on the official sponsor register first.
  • Job offers without a sponsorship reference number: genuine sponsors provide a CoS, LMIA, nomination or Job Check reference.
  • Salaries far below market rate: an "HR manager" role advertised at $500/month is a red flag.
  • Commission-only roles with no base salary: genuine sponsored corporate roles must meet the salary threshold — commission-only does not qualify.
  • Fake job boards: stick to verified platforms like IFMOSA and official government job banks (Job Bank Canada, Find a Job UK, etc.).
IFMOSA's commitment: we only publish jobs that appear to come from licensed or verifiable employers. Each listing includes official government links where available. Always cross-check using the relevant sponsor register.
