Production Supervisor

Position Summary

  • Work Schedule:  12-hour rotating continental shifts (Days and Nights – 6 am- 6 pm; 6pm – 6am)
  • This position is 100% on-site at the Windsor site.

This position is located in Windsor, Ontario, one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries.  We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for assisting the manager in leading and coaching the shop floor production team in order to safely produce quality products in accordance to established criteria. The Production Supervisor will supervise the production team while empowering work teams to work at their capability level.

The Role:

  • Promote productivity improvements. Meet daily production objectives and manage each shift with respect to production efficiencies, effectively utilizing corporate resources, labour, equipment, and materials.
  • Supervise a team of hourly employees involving a high level of engagement with team members. Deliver shift meetings as per pre-defined agenda.
  • Monitor and manage employee performance, including coaching and delivery of performance management actions.
  • Promote a “Patient First” culture within the production team.
  • Meet daily and long-term safety, quality, delivery (schedule attainment) and cost (efficiency, productivity) objectives.
  • Provide daily information on metric results per shift, through daily shift report and during Master Variance meetings.
  • Ensure the implementation of quality procedures, reinforce regulatory compliance with respect to GMP and ensure compliance with respect to company’s SOP’s (Standard Operation Procedures). Ensure that training and qualifications are current for all employees in the Shift/Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Candidate:

  • High School Diploma, GED/CAEC and/or educational credential assessment (ECA) is required.  Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences (Chem., Biology) or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience supervising a team in a manufacturing environment, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity preferred. Candidates should have strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse workforce and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Experience working in manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility an asset.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
  • Currently Catalent participates in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) on a limited basis.
  • Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming the Canadian equivalency of the credentials as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as WES.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical or food manufacturing processes.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high performing work teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of automation systems is an asset.
  • The employee’s role frequently involves sitting and utilizing hands and fingers for tasks such as handling, feeling, and keyboard manipulation, necessitating manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally, the position requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, alongside close vision capabilities and potential exposure to chemicals.
