About the opportunity

A mixed farming operation near Gull Lake, Saskatchewan is hiring for a full‑time, permanent farm equipment operator / farm hand. This is a long‑term position for someone with extensive large‑scale farm equipment operating experience who is looking for a stable role with responsibility and independence.

The farm is looking for someone who can become a trusted right‑hand person and take ownership of day‑to‑day work. The operation includes approximately:

  • 4,500 acres of cropland

  • 1,000 acres of hay land

  • 200 cows

On‑farm housing is available and could be suitable for an individual, couple, or family. Details can be discussed with serious applicants.


Key duties

  • Operating large farm equipment – tractors, sprayer, air drill, and combines.

  • Seeding, spraying, haying, harvest, and general crop production work.

  • Mixing chemicals.

  • Assisting with cattle and mixed farm duties.

  • Equipment maintenance, servicing, and repairs.

  • Yard, shop, and general farm maintenance.

  • Working independently and completing tasks without constant supervision.

  • General farm duties as needed.


The ideal applicant will

  • Have extensive experience operating equipment on a large‑scale grain farm.

  • Be confident operating large modern farm equipment independently.

  • Have experience with spraying, seeding, haying, and harvest work.

  • Have a good understanding of mixed farm operations.

  • Have mechanical knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot basic issues.

  • Have strong English communication skills.

  • Be reliable, responsible, and trustworthy.

  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Be able to follow instructions and solve problems.

  • Be looking for a permanent, long‑term position.


Requirements

  • Extensive farm equipment operating experience.

  • Valid Canadian work permit or Canadian citizen/permanent resident.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

  • Strong English communication skills.

  • References required.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to reach, bend, sit, and stand for prolonged periods.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

  • Must be willing and able to work longer hours during busy seasons.


Preference will be given to applicants with

  • Experience on a mixed grain and cattle operation.

  • Mechanical knowledge or repair skills.

  • Class 1A driver’s licence and/or trucking experience.

  • Experience with supervising/managing small teams.


Hours

This is a full‑time, year‑round position. Hours are generally normal working hours outside of peak seasons, with longer days required during busy periods – spring seeding, haying, harvest, and calving.
