About the EPIK Program

The English Program in Korea (EPIK) is a South Korean government initiative designed to improve English education in public schools. EPIK places qualified native-level English speakers in schools across South Korea, including major cities and regional locations. The program is well known for its structured onboarding, stability, and strong support for international teachers.

Role Overview

EPIK is recruiting English Teachers to teach in South Korean public elementary, middle, and high schools. Teachers will work alongside Korean co-teachers to deliver communicative English lessons, support students’ language development, and contribute to cultural exchange.

All successful candidates complete mandatory paid orientation and training before starting their school placements.

Locations

Placements are available nationwide, including but not limited to:

  • Seoul Metropolitan Area

  • Busan

  • Incheon

  • Daegu

  • Gwangju

  • Daejeon

  • Ulsan

  • Provincial and rural regions across South Korea

Final placement locations are assigned by the program based on availability and preference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach English conversation and language skills in public schools

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons with a Korean co-teacher

  • Assist with English camps and extracurricular activities when required

  • Support lesson planning, grading, and classroom management

  • Participate in school events and cultural exchange activities

  • Maintain professionalism and follow public school guidelines

Training & Orientation

  • Mandatory pre-placement orientation and teacher training provided by EPIK

  • Training covers classroom management, Korean school culture, lesson planning, and teaching methods

  • Orientation takes place before deployment to assigned schools

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (any discipline) from an accredited institution

  • Citizenship from an eligible English-speaking country

  • Clean criminal background check

  • Medical fitness for overseas employment

  • Strong communication skills and interest in teaching

  • Teaching experience or TEFL/TESOL certification is preferred but not always required
