The Opportunity: A Mission-Critical Role in Lisbon
We are currently seeking a motivated Mid-Level COBOL Developer to join a prestigious, long-term project in the vibrant city of Lisbon. This is not just another programming role; it is a chance to work on core, mission-critical systems that form the backbone of a major organization. You will be entrusted with maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing essential applications, where your contributions will have a direct and visible impact. Your Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality COBOL applications within a CICS environment.

Write and optimize complex SQL queries for DB2 databases to ensure efficient data retrieval and manipulation.

Develop, modify, and debug JCL (Job Control Language) procedures to manage batch processing workflows.

Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from analysis and design through to implementation and support.

Collaborate effectively with a team of analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to uphold the highest standards of code quality.

Troubleshoot and resolve intricate issues within the mainframe environment, ensuring system stability and performance.
What We Are Looking For:

A minimum of 3 years of hands-on professional experience in COBOL development.

Detailed, practical knowledge of COBOL programming and CICS transaction processing.

Solid experience with DB2, including data modeling, SQL programming, and performance tuning.

Proficiency in creating and managing JCL for batch job execution.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.

Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to effectively collaborate in an international context.

Fluency in Portuguese (spoken and written) is essential for seamless integration with the local team and project stakeholders.
