The Opportunity:
This is a pivotal role for a construction professional who thrives on complexity and precision. You will be at the heart of our client’s UK operations, entrusted with the end-to-end management of significant construction projects governed by EPC contracts. Your expertise will be the linchpin ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in strict accordance with rigorous contractual and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
As a Construction Engineer, your role will be multifaceted and critical to project success. Your core duties will include:

Contract Management & Compliance: Meticulously review, analyse, and interpret EPC contract documents and project specifications to fully understand the project scope, deliverables, timelines, and intricate contractual obligations. Serve as the guardian of contract compliance throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Stakeholder Coordination & Liaison: Act as the primary technical point of contact, fostering effective collaboration between contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams. Ensure clear communication and alignment of goals across all parties.

Project Monitoring & Control: Proactively monitor project progress against baselined plans and schedules. Identify potential deviations, risks, or delays early and develop and implement robust corrective actions to keep the project on track.

Technical Leadership & Problem-Solving: Provide authoritative technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex construction-related challenges, from design interpretation to on-the-ground execution issues.

Quality Assurance & Site Inspection: Conduct regular and thorough site inspections to verify that all work complies with project specifications, stringent quality assurance protocols, building codes, and health & safety regulations.

Documentation & Change Management: Manage all critical project documentation with precision, including Requests for Information (RFIs), technical submittals, change orders, and variation claims, ensuring a clear and auditable record.

Procurement Support: Collaborate closely with the procurement and supply chain teams to ensure the timely delivery of materials, plant, and equipment, mitigating any risk of project delays.

Reporting & Communication: Prepare detailed and insightful progress reports for senior management and stakeholders, clearly communicating project status, key milestones achieved, risks, and budgetary updates.

Meeting Participation: Lead and participate in essential project meetings, including pre-construction conferences, weekly coordination meetings, and project closeout sessions.
The Ideal Candidate:
Qualifications & Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.

Proven experience as a Construction Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar role, with a demonstrable track record on projects delivered under EPC contracts.

In-depth knowledge of EPC contract structures, project management methodologies, and construction best practices.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, technical specifications, and complex contractual documents.

A strong working understanding of UK construction codes, regulations, and CDM safety standards (experience with these is a significant advantage).

Proficiency in using project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, Aconex) and standard office suites.
