You will be the on-site representative of our company, entrusted with leading a ground crew by example to maintain and enhance our clients’ commercial or residential properties to our renowned standards of excellence.

Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership, Training, and Crew Management:

Provide direct, daily on-site leadership, assigning clear tasks and responsibilities to each crew member to maximize productivity and ensure a smooth workflow.

Act as a primary mentor and trainer for ground crew employees, promoting company standards in technique, professionalism, and safety. You will be instrumental in helping new team members develop their skills and integrate into our company culture.

Foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful team environment. Motivate your crew to take pride in their work and maintain high morale, even during challenging weather conditions or complex projects.

Perform essential administrative functions pertaining to crew management, including accurately recording work hours, tracking job site progress, and completing daily or weekly activity reports for management.

Maintain constant and clear communication with your crew, your direct supervisor, and our operations manager to relay updates, address challenges, and ensure alignment with company goals.
2. Client Interaction and Satisfaction:

Serve as a professional point of contact for clients on-site. Your ability to interact courteously and effectively is crucial to maintaining our reputation for exceptional service.

Proactively address client questions or concerns, ensuring their satisfaction with the work being performed. Listen carefully to client requests and communicate them clearly to your team and management.

Uphold our company brand by ensuring your crew and equipment present a professional image at all times.
3. Landscape Maintenance and Horticultural Excellence:

Perform and oversee the full spectrum of landscape maintenance duties to the highest standard. This includes but is not limited to:

Lawn Care: Mowing, trimming, edging, and fertilizing turf to create a clean, healthy, and manicured appearance.

Plant and Bed Maintenance: Installing seasonal color and perennial plants, mulching garden beds, weeding, and edging to define landscape lines.

Arboriculture: Pruning and trimming trees and shrubs to maintain plant health, promote optimal growth, and achieve aesthetically pleasing forms.

Health Monitoring: Vigilantly monitoring the health of all plants and greenspaces, identifying signs of pest infestation, disease, or nutrient deficiencies, and taking or recommending appropriate corrective action.

Site Presentation: Keeping all green spaces, gardens, and hardscapes (like walkways and patios) clear of debris, litter, and fallen branches.

4. Equipment Operation, Maintenance, and Safety:

Safely and proficiently operate a wide range of landscaping equipment and machinery, including commercial mowers, string trimmers, edgers, leaf blowers, and sprayers.

Be responsible for the daily upkeep and basic maintenance of all assigned equipment. This includes cleaning, sharpening blades, changing oil, and performing minor repairs.

Monitor the condition of all tools and equipment, reporting major issues to management promptly to schedule professional servicing and prevent downtime.

Champion a culture of safety on your job site. Enforce the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensure safe work practices are followed at all times, and maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.

Actively participate in all company-sponsored safety training sessions and lead by example in adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements

Proven, hands-on experience in a commercial or high-end residential landscaping role, with at least one season in a leadership or foreman capacity.

Extensive, practical knowledge of horticultural best practices, including planting techniques, pruning standards, soil and fertilizer types, and integrated pest management (IPM) principles.

High proficiency in the safe operation, maintenance, and minor repair of all standard landscaping equipment.

Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and train a team of 2-4 individuals effectively, fostering a productive and positive work environment.

Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with a proven track record of punctuality, reliability, and professional conduct.

Outstanding verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to interact positively with crew members, supervisors, and clients.

The physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding labour in all seasonal weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain, for extended periods. This role requires lifting heavy objects (50+ lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for most of the day.

A valid driver’s license is required, and a clean driving record is highly preferred for potential operation of company vehicles.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
This is a physically demanding, full-time position that primarily takes place outdoors. Crew Leaders must be prepared to work in various weather conditions and be capable of sustained physical activity.
