Sugar Bowl Resort is a historic ski resort located on Donner Summit in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, known for its significant snowfall and family-friendly atmosphere. It’s one of the oldest ski resorts in California, with a history intertwined with skiing culture, Hollywood, and Walt Disney. The resort offers a variety of winter sports activities, including skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing at Royal Gorge. 

Role: Chef

Duties:

Food Preparation & Cooking:

  • Prepare, season, and cook soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other dishes to exact recipe standards.

  • Execute advanced cooking techniques: sauté, grill, broil, bake, poach, fry, and braise.

  • Plate complex menu items with precision and artistic presentation.

  • Prepare sauces, stocks, and soups from scratch.

  • Ensure consistent taste, texture, and presentation of all dishes.

  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and station standards.

Kitchen Operations & Sanitation:

  • Maintain full kitchen sanitation, including personal workstations and shared areas.

  • Assist with kitchen sanitation audits and enforce food safety regulations (local & government).

  • Inspect food prep and serving areas to ensure safe and hygienic practices.

  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock rotation as needed.

Team Leadership & Compliance:

  • Serve as a role model for kitchen staff in professionalism, grooming, and work ethic.

  • Train and guide junior staff when required.

  • Adhere to all safety, hygiene, and company policies.

  • Communicate effectively with FOH (Front of House) staff regarding menu updates and special requests.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in high-volume or fine-dining kitchens.

  • Expert knife skills and proficiency in various cooking methods.

  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Physical stamina to stand for long hours and lift heavy pots/equipment (up to 50 lbs).

  • Team player with leadership qualities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in hotel or upscale restaurant settings.

  • Knowledge of inventory and ordering systems.

Salary: 20 USD per hour
